The departed soul has to travel through a sperm to enter a womb. There are several wombs ready to accept a departed soul, but how soon one acquires a body and continues the journey is determined by the “prarabdhakarma”. Sometimes the soul remains in a pleasant state (called heaven) until it acquires the new body or otherwise in misery (called hell), till it reaches the new body. How long and where, is determined by the karmic burden. Hari Om.
