Which Sloka should I say before eating my meals? What are its benefits?
Posted by Shobhana on May 25, 2017
Generally, Bhagavad Gita 2:24 is recited before meals
“brahmarpanam brahma havir
brahmagnau brahmana hutam
brahmaiva tena gantavyam
brahma-karma-samadhina”.
The literal meaning translates into “Brahman is the oblation, brahman is the offering, brahman is the fire, brahman is the one who offers. One whose actions happen while absorbed in brahman, he only attains brahman.” This prayer is recited with an understanding that all our karmas should be done with yagnabhava. When we start doing simple and essential functions like eating with yagnabhava, we will develop “Bhramadrishti” or the power to see everything in our day to day interactions as the eternal essence. Hari Om.
