hello Swamiji, I am confused about what my duty is. I was never a dedicated student in my life but with little bit of last minute preperation I always managed to get good marks in exams. All my life, I admit I never worked hard for anything. yet God loves me and has given a lovely daughter and loving husband. All is well for me. Yet deep down when I see most of my friends earning good salary I feel I could have tried. And out of that thought, of late, I prepared for a PSC exam and to my surprise I got in to the main list but not with a high rank. Dont know y, I felt depressed. (wish I had heard your discourses at that time) Swamiji, again I am in to 2-3 list but the chances of grabbing a job is bleak for me. now I am crossing my age limit…may b in 2 years. My question is, my daughter is a extremely gifted singer and academically brilliant student. My husband earns well for the family and as of now we r financially secure. should I keep on trying for a job or should I nurture my kid and help her conquer great heights (both intellectually and emotionally) which I couldnt. pls give me an advice.

There is a saying “seize the moment”. Meaning, we can only live in the present. There is no point regretting about what you should have done when you were younger, because such negativity will only stop you from doing what you should do well now. Learn to take life as it comes and perform to the best of your ability, each moment. If you want a job and feel you will get it, keep trying. But, if you are content being a housewife, focus on it. You can’t perform half hearted and expect life to give you the best. Whatever you got is a blessing, but content in what you have, is a grace. Now, if you don’t go for a job, you should be very clear that you did not get it because of your own mistake. Never think of it as a sacrifice you are doing for your child. A lot of children of working mothers are outstanding. Train your mind to live in the moment, not the past or future. Hari Om
