Dear swamiji, first of all thanking you for your wonderful speeches which lights our mind. Can you please explain why women wear a mangalasutra and putting sindhoor on her forhead after marriage? Is there any logical reason behind these traditions?

Mangalsutra traditionally is a piece of gold on three threads. Threads are always tied in our tradition to denote a binding. With the three threads the physical, mental, and energy levels of the man and woman are tied together, so they essentially become a part of the other, with no separate existence thereafter. The tiny piece of gold is supposed to be worn close to the heart, for its medicinal and energy benefits as well.
The kumkum (red) color denotes a woman in a conjugal relation. It is worn in the center of the forehead where the feelings are centered, and controlled by the pituitary gland. Sindoor is also worn over the agnachakra to keep it cool and controlled. Hari Om.
