During “Pooja Veypu” we submit our books and instruments in front of Saraswathi who is the Presiding Deity of learning, words (Vaak/Vani), and creativity. Saraswathi pooja is done in the last three days of the 9 day Nava-rathri celebrations when we go through a process of intellectual/creative renewal. In the first three days we invoke our ichhasakthi or desire to do, next three days our kriyasakthi or ability to work creatively and positively. With these two powers we will attain material gains.

However, all our material successes are meaningless if we don’t have the necessary Jnanasakthi to handle and channel our successes well. Saraswathi pooja is the time we surrender our books/instruments that give us the know-how and means for success, in front of Jnanadevatha. We pray Saraswathi Devi for wisdom and vivekam, to maintain the creative intelligence in us always. This is why Sarsawati is considered the wife of Brahma(creative energy). Hari Om.
