Hari Om Recently I had a chance to attend discourses by swamiji at two different locations – One at Bengaluru and another at Guruvayur. In these discourses the concept of AD was mentioned as After Death to indicate the Christian Era. I thought that AD as commonly understood indicates Anno Domini which is taken to mean In the year of the Lord. I would like clarification on this subject.Islam was mentioned as having been in practice for over 2000 years. But historical evidence available shows that Islam was founded in approximately 640 AD and then spread around the world for nearly 1300 or more years. I would like this also to be clarified. You are right. AD stands for Anno Domini in Latin and is based on the Gregorian Calendar. But the right usage now will be Common Era(C.E.) and Before Common Era(B.C.E). Regarding Islam, it is 1400 years old and Christianity is about 2000 years old. Hari Om.
