Pranam Swamiji, How do I deal with people who do not believe in God? They do not go to temple nor any other religious institution, they have never read or listened to our scriptures nor are they interested. Infact, they dislike topics that have got to do with God and religion. Infact, seeing the Bhagavad Gita in my Kindle, one of them mocked me. I realise they are ignorant but when ignorance turns into arrogance, how do you handle them? They are too many in number so I don’t react as I believe faith in God cannot be imposed, it has to come from within. Am I right?

Do you think people who “believe in God” are better than those who don’t? A believer and non-believer are equally ignorant, because they are both talking about something that is not in their experience. Unfortunately, a lot of the so called believers or spiritual people are not ideal role models in their character or behavior. If that is where spirituality took them, we cannot blame the non-believers. The first step in “dealing” with them is to respect them for their virtues/ values/compassion and goodness. Also, as you read Bhagavad Gita, you will realize God is not an entity outside of your being. So if you are a person full of virtues, love, compassion and universality…..you are one with God. Belief has no role there. Hari Om.
