Bhagavatham teaches you to have vigjnanam and vairagyam in life. This applies in relations also. Relations are healthy when it is a walk together, with mutual respect, give and take without compulsions, but out of care and concern for each other. Any attempt to use someone, their skills, dignity or money for personal gains is not love. As you mentioned, awareness is needed to discern what is real and what is manipulation. This understanding comes automatically to a divine mind, so they can escape from manipulators at the right time. Hari Om.
