Pujya Swamiji, My 12 yr old son says that when he comes back home from his school bus some boys sitting at the back seat mocks at him and calls him by dirty names. yesterday night he told me about this and asked me that if they tease at me i keep quiet and sits unbothered. Am i right to behave like this or should i respond back. I told him just to ignore it and keep quiet… He fears that if he argues with them then they will beat him next time. What advise should i give him swamiji?

Dear Padmaja,
What he does now is the right thing; when some one throws garbage at you, will you catch it and hold onto it?
You will try to avoid them, right?
However, tell him that he should not develop a feeling of victimization by being mentally submissive to them!
(If he can face it with a smile without any inferiority feeling, it is good).
Convince him that by giving such experiences, God is actually preparing him to handle harsher situations in his life ahead, firmly and gracefully.
If it is needed, offer your help to solve the problem by talking to the children.
What matters is maintaining our self respect!
