Namaskaram Swamiji, I would like to know how I can find happiness in the smallest of the things(yet inevitable) like being able to breathe, having a healthy body or being able to make someone smile. My mind is in a constant state of greed for something better than what I have now. it compares and competes(for money, better living standards and so on). I tried looking at people who have very difficult times and that doesnt help me understand the value of what I already have. For that moment I am grateful to the creator but then again I go back to square 1. If I can master this skill, then I am very sure I wont be unhappy ever in my life because there are so many little yet invaluable things to be happy about. Please advise me Swamiji.

It is human nature that we take the most valuable things, the most valuable relations and the most valuable blessings for granted. You are at least able to think about those. A lot of people don’t even realize how blessed they are, to have intact health. There is nothing wrong in being aggressive in life, wanting to improve your living conditions or acquiring wealth. But contentment comes when you are able to share what you have. Instead of worrying about you being aggressive in life and not content with your little blessings….use your health, wealth and skills to support the less privileged. That will help you appreciate your blessings and your life more. You will be happy that you can add value to this world with your presence. So even if you compete, earn more and improve your life…..you will be a blessing to the people around you. Hari Om.
