Dear Swamiji, My mother was very optimistic with lot of determination. She was into various sapthahams. Still she passed away recently diagnosed with cancer. You always say that positive thoughts will kill diseases. But in my mother’s case, disease won. Kindly reply why and what went wrong. Should i call this as destiny?

Death is the only truth in this world. The question is what is your mindset when death comes. Are you fearless, content and rested or are you anxious, worried and hopeless? It is said the attitude with which the mind leaves the body, is amplified a thousand times and determines the progress of the soul. That is why we chant mantras or give Ganga Jal when someone is about to die. You know the story of Parikshit who heard the first Sapthaham from Sri Suka Brahmarshi. He still died by the strike of Thakshaka. The essence of Bhagavtha Sapthaham is to elevate the mind to such a level that it is at the feet of Bhagavan before death touches the body. I am sure your Mom being a determined devotee had achieved that state of mind. We all have to leave one day. When I say positive thoughts kills disease, I mean the disease process has no way of affecting or weakening a true devotee’s mind. Like Parikshit said after listening to Sri Suka….I don’t mind Thakshaka coming…because my mind has already reached the Divine. I know you are sad at your Mom’s departure. Live up to her wishes. Carry the torch of spiritual wisdom she had, and pass it to your children. That is the best way you can love her now. My blessings are with you. Hari Om.
