Hinduism is a science as well as way of living. It sees Divinity in all objects, living and non-living, good and bad, ugly and beautiful, scary and tame. Sarpa kava in the olden days was a way of preserving the ecosystem near a house. More over Snakes have the ability to utilize the harmful superoxides from the environment thereby protecting the people nearby. For a man to attain that power of Super oxide detoxification he has to be a great yogi, with high levels of sadhana. Hence they were preserved near dwellings and temples with reverence. Eventually this scientific practice became a religious practice. That is all. Hari Om.
