Swamiji, Our family is an ancient one which had many deities and Poojas performed in the past. With time it was all forgotten and none of us in this generation has knowledge about it. Every family from that lineage had/ has faced extremes like suicides, mental disorders, death by accidents, incurable diseases… initially we all ignored such incidents but later when each family individually consulted different astrologers they all said it’s because of the lost deities..They all didn’t opt for further poojas and prayaschitthas since it’s all lost and forgotten but asked us to pray genuinely…how can we get out of this situation swamiji…it is said that these type of sufferings will continue in every member of this lineage and will pass on to future generations through every single girl child born in our family..

There is no way you will correct anything that your ancestors did do, did not do, or were supposed to do. Life has to be lived forward with courage and optimism not looking back with fear and regret. Be proud that you belong to an ancient family. Be proud that you have enough ties with other family members to know their whereabouts. Because, most people these days don’t even know their extended relatives. Now, you have a series of mis-happenings in the extended family for whatever reason. Are you going to die in fear? If your forefathers continued all poojas and kept all deities like before, which family member would have assumed the responsibility to take care of it all now? We have to move on with our times and generations. Teach every girl child in your family to chant Adithya hridaya Mantram/ Narayana Kavacham daily. No misery will touch them. Family deities were kept as a “protective force” in the olden days. No deity will curse or do revenge on you. It is out of our ignorance that we attribute curse, revenge and other negative qualities of humans to Gods too. If you stop perpetuating this story of “family deity’s curse,” at least the next generation of children in your family will live without inviting negativity and fear into their lives. Hari Om.
