Pranam swamiji. In today’s prabhashanam on flowers channel…it was really wonderful to know the reason behind doing shraadham. Those who have a son are really blessed because the son will do all the duties for his parents after their death. But what about those who have only daughters. Who will do their parent’s shraadham and other duties.? Is it the husband? If the answer is yes, don’t you think their level of involvement will be lesser . Does this affect the soul searching for another soul.? Secondly what about those families who do not perform shraadham and tharpanam. Will the soul after death keep wandering ? Will it hurt them ? I am really blessed to hear your prabhashanam. Thank you so much .

The soul’s journey is decided by its own karma vasanas and not by who does tharpanam. Our scriptures don’t differentiate between son or daughter in doing any death rite. In fact Tharpanam is only the family’s prayer for the soul to get a suitable body and birth to continue its journey to the Paramathma as soon as possible. It is also a way of paying respects to our ancestors who are the reason for our body. Every person is responsible for what happens to his soul. By doing good deeds and entertaining good thoughts, you can add good karma to your existence and you will graciously move on to a better body, without an any external support. Hari Om.
