Swamiji, I am mentally attached with a person. I trusted him fully. He also behaved to me like that only. But one recent incident proved that he was cheating me very cleverly. After that I cut all the contacts with him. But he is my colleague. Daily i have to see him. He looks very cool in office. But my situation is entirely different. I am in a state of depression. I lost sleep and not interested to eat properly. Day by day my weight is decreasing. Detachment from that person is giving me more pain inside .How I can overcome this situation.

Detachment from “that person” is causing you to be depressed. Now let us think of him for one minute. When you thought he was “attached” to you, he truly was not. Now, after you left him, he is still cool and living as though nothing happened. So essentially, your presence or absence has not made any difference to him. Then the question is…… “how important were you for him”? Relationships have any meaning only if there is mutual respect and care. A one way attachment will always cause disrespect, exploitation and hurt. You should be happy you are out of it sooner than later. Before you love anyone, love and respect yourself. Maintain your dignity and self worth. There is space for everyone in this world. Think of all the other people in your life who value you, love you, respect you etc. focus on them. He is one in the many people in your life now, a colleague who deserves a casual attention. Nothing more. You feel powerless because he is happy without you. That is exactly the power you need to develop in you….Happy without him. Consciously think of that relation as a “joke” in your life and soon you will realize it truly was. Hari OM.
