Swamiji, Pranams to you!!! Does any Smrithi say varna is based on birth only. I believe all our Upanishads and Vedas say that the varnas are created for profession only. And any one who is in the quest of Brahman is a Brahmin . Please clarify.

Bhagavad Gita is the ultimate authority on this issue. Bhagavan himself says, Chathur varnyam (that which is described as 4) is based on Gunas and Karmas (qualities and actions). It has nothing to do with birth. As you correctly pointed out Brahmin is one who has “brahmajnanam”……again nothing to do with birth again. Hari Om.
