We lived in a purely agriculturalist society in the past and Karkidakam being the month of Monsoons in Kerala meant no work, no money, no crops etc. in the olden days. Hence people found it difficult to do anything that involved money like marriage or business. This was followed by Chingam when people were back to work and had funds to celebrate. Hence all auspicious events were postponed to Chingam. Eventually it just became customary. That’s all. No month or day is particularly good or bad if your attitudes and approach are right. Hari Om.
