Dear Swamiji, My Humble Pranams to you!! . Can a Grihasta take Diksha from a Guru as spiritual initiation? What are the required discipline to be followed after that? In North India I have seen many of my friends having a Guru and them initiated into Mantra diksha. But correct me if wrong, in South we do not have such a culture . Please advise.

Anyone can be given a Mantra Diksha. It is just a process of formally initiating a person into a dedicated life of Sadhana. A Guru may be able to guide you in choosing a mantra that suits your personality and temperament to provide the maximum transformation. Vedic system is more prevalent in the North compared to Tantric system in the South. Please go ahead and get started with your Mantra chanting daily. Purity of the mind and quality of the thoughts is all you need. Hari Om.
