Ramayana is not for Karkidakam, but for everyday. It is essentially “Vedanta saaram” in simple language, said through the story of Ram’s family and society. Reading Ramayana helps you to take the tough challenges of life with balance and strength like Ram and Sita did. In Kerala which was an agricultural society, Karkidakam being the season of rain, meant poverty and diseases in the past. So people read Ramayanam at that time to have the courage and strength to face their adversities. Hari Om.
