Upon death of a person the body is consigned to flames. It has been made very clear by you in your talks that Atman is distinct from body. Hence, the doubt why the ashes are carried to distant places for immersion and why we perform elaborate rituals for 13 days

No matter where the ashes are dispersed the body returns to the Panchabhootas. 13 day rituals are done because that is the time for the mind and causal body to complete detach from the prior life and become pure astral body. Hari Om.
