Pranam Swamiji, As said, a soul leaving a body, will start travelling to find out a new body and this search ends when it gets a suitable body. So how can such a travelling soul can be placed in a temple or home in a special place as a protection until a new birth is obtained immdtly or after 2000 years. Pls advs.

How soon a soul takes a new birth is determined by the “Sanchitakarma” or the total Karmic wealth/ burden. It may be in two days or 2000 years. There is no way to know. However, the rituals are done with a prayer that the soul can merge with Bhagavan as soon as possible. Until a new birth is acquired, people follow some rituals to “place the athma” in a sacred environment. No one knows when that athma will acquire a new birth or body. Hari Om.
