Pranam swamiji. Can past life conditions be one of the reasons that determine our attitude for this birth. ? My looks, character, mannerism, approach towards life and everything resembles my father and his side of family. Everytime when relatives talk to me ,they say “oh u just talk like your father, look like your father etc. Many many times i have myself seen that i just do like my father does. i am a little impatient, lazy, gets irritated quickly and my father, his elder brother and his younger sister are all the same.To tell you the truth swamiji, i dont like it, i am not happy with the fact rather reality that i resemble him and his side of family. The reason for this is my mother. She is totally opposite to all of them. She is polite, compassionate, hardworking, patient and i can keep adding more adjectives. I wish i was born with all the qualities that my mom has. Now my question is : I am 20 years old, if i now try to change my attitude and character, will i succeed in doing so, or will i fail? I want to change for my own good. i want to change attitude towards life. i dont want to be lazy, i dont want to be impatient. i want to be like mother. My father is a “gentleman” is what my mother says.i love my father no matter what. but i dont want to be like him. is it possible swamiji? or will i have to remain like this all my life.

Two things need to be highlighted here. You adore your mother, but your mother adores your Father. Every person who we come across in life have something to teach us. Some teach us what to be, others teach us what not to be. There are certain characteristics and mannerisms you express from your father’s side and that is quite natural. What you what to be is absolutely your choice and your decision. You can’t blame it on genetics. If your are lazy, impatient or irritable that is totally your responsibility not your father’s. Psychologists say past the age of 14, a person moves away from the familial behaviors to establish their own sets of values and identity through learned behavior, education etc. Now, it is up to you to establish a great identity. You are not your father or your mother. Realize that and create yourself in a better way. Hari Om.
