Dear Deepa,
The meaning is:
Just as the body passes from one stage to another (childhood, youth and old age), the soul passes from one body to another.
When the soul leaves a body, we call it death, and when it enters a body, we call it birth.
A person who has realized the Supreme Truth does not get perplexed by the birth and death of the body. He knows that body is mortal and soul is not the body. He knows that the changes in the body does not affect the immortal soul.
