Our scriptures say the Universe goes through cycles of time called yugas. The plants, animals, and people in each yuga is different. The characters and skills of people, the pace of their life etc. are different as well. Bhagavatham clearly explains what to expect in each yuga. As such, the practices and prescriptions for spiritual upliftment in Krithayuga will not be good for Kaliyuga. Yagnas was the thing to do for mental purification in Tretayuga while Namajapam is to be done in Kaliyuga. Hari Om.
