When Manikandan left his mortal body and merged into Dharmasastha, he had specified to Pandalam Raja, the requirements that devotees should fulfill before visiting him. His bhava in Sabarimala is that of a Nyshtikabrahmachari. Moreover, it is not women devotees of Ayyappa asking to visit him. A true devotee only wishes to maintain the sanctity of the temple rituals and the wishes of the deity. A true woman devotee, is happy to just visit Ayyappa in the thousands of other temples that have no restrictions. The political aspects of this SC decision is nicely covered under woman’s rights. It is great to see our women themselves have realized it and stood up for their traditions. Hari Om.
