Dear Swamiji.,is it compulsory to get initiated to use mantras ? nobody initiated me any mantras.but i like to chant mantras.if i chant a mantra 108 times, will it be useful or no use due to not initiated from guru.

In olden times when people were closely associated with spiritual masters, it was common that a Guru chose the mantra for the disciple depending on his level of Sadhana. The important thing in chanting a mantra is not the number of times but how mentally involved you are in it, that matters. Any mantra you chant with devotion and involvement will have its effect as they are high energy syllables. So, stay committed to your Sadhana and you will see the change. Hari Om.
