The aura of a wet body is different from that with dry clothes. Wet aura helps move your energies northwards in ethereal environments like that of a temple. That is why people went to the temples after a dip in the temple pond. Also the sanctum Santorum is a space where a high energy is contained by the way the temple is constructed. There is a copper/gold plate under the deity and at Prana prathista the moorthy is energized. This energy is then maintained and enhanced with sound, light, yantra, tantra etc. So just a darshan of the deity will create positive energy vibes in the devotees.
