Perfection is when you can grow in your conscience to involve and accept everything or reduce yourself to be nothing. At both these levels, there are no selective likes or dislikes.
About your relative who became an atheist, there is no reason for worry. Atheism does not mean giving up on values or ruthless life. You should understand “Charvakas” who were really atheists, were considered great sages. The important thing is she can live a life that positively affects others. Hari Om.
