Dear Swamiji, As per Hindu religion, we have 33.75 crores of devadas. Unlike semetic religion, each person can select their own devatas as per their mind set. Still we use maximum 15 devatas (Ganapathy, Vishnu, Krishna, Durga, Bhadra, Kali, Subramanian, Saraswathy, Lakshmi, Ayyappa and Naga). Why rest of devadas out of 33.75 crores not utilised? Again out of above devatas, if we could not find a suitable devata according to our mind set, we can fuse 2 devatas and worship. For eg: moola mantra”Om iyim clem sowm hreem dum durgaye namaha” here durga and bhadra kali are fused and do a single pooja for both. If 2 devatas of different characters are fused for eg: durga is in soumya (polite) form and Kali is in roudra (angry) form if fused, what will be the outcome… Pls advs..

33 “koti” has been wrongly translated from Sanskrit as 33 “crores” by the English translators. They are in fact the 33 presiding deities of our faculties. 8 for the body (panchabhootas+ sun, moon, dhruva), 11 names of Sun (for social skills), 5 rudras (controlling the sense organs), 7 names of Siva and 2 Aswini Devathas. A total of 33. If all of such faculties are elevated, Life will be glorious. Hari Om.
