Dear Swamiji, If we do “pithru karma” at Ganga, Kasi or Thirunelli, we need not do it again. Also we have to avoid a leaf, a vegetable and a fruit which we like most. What is the logic behind this. Pls advs.

Since Pitrukarma is your homage and prayer for the departed ancestor what mindset you do it with, is important. In places like Kasi/ Ganga where the intensity of such rituals is very profound because of the energy vibrations of these locations, there is nothing more for you to offer as a prayer or homage. Hence, we say we don’t need to do it again. Also forsaking something you like is a way of keeping that ancestor in your memory as long you live. Hari Om.
