Hari Ohm. Once you are firm and clear in your decision ,never give an opportunity to suspect your decision. You have to convince yourself ,you loved the qualities of the person ,not the age. When people talk about his age just explain his qualities more. Practice sadhana daily so that you can develop a bold mind and a wise brain. This will help you to guide him to see a divine person in you.
