Hari om and pranamam Swamiji, I have been writing queries to you right from my late teens till now , I am a 30 yr old mother of a 5 yr old now and most of your answers have helped in guiding and bringing clarity to different aspects of life,from teenage confusions to adjusting into real world and responsibilities and also all the spiritual, religious doubts.The answers always resonated with something within me.I was lucky to meet you personally for the first time a few days back when you were at cbd and I really am very grateful that you spent some time from your busy schedule to talk to me and thanks a ton for all the positivity and warmth.I am bit of an introvert so I am not so good at talking a lot. I heard parts of your prabhasanams and I had a few doubts.I am sorry if I am interpreting you wrongly .You said it is selfishness to love the self most and most people don’t love others but they only love their ego.I do agree that most people love their ego the most and love only the people who help to boost or pump their ego including me at times and that surely is not good.We love people in our family and friends and we do make sacrifices in some of our relationships but I feel we must love ourselves the most.We don’t like people who are mean or jealous to us and don’t care about us but that is fine right .Not that love is a transaction but if we continue to be loving or kind to those who hurt us,it eats away at our self worth and our confidence and inner strength and simply we are taken for granted and their behavior doesn’t stop either though later on they might realise the goodness in us. I feel so because it has happened to me at work and it is not easy to be always giving so I don’t think it is selfishness to love ourself the most.Swamiji would you please clarify if it is actually selfish to put love for self first than love for others.
