Dear Guruji, I am having a basic doubt. I am a software engineer. I am married & have a son as well. In most of our spiritual books we come across the advice to do swadharma without attachment & achieve purity of mind. What exactly is swadharma? Can the work we do at office/household activities like cooking or taking care of the child be considered as swadharma. Could you please help us understand this. Once again thank you for the really enlightening prabhashanam in the morning in Asianet.

Dear Chandana,
Whatever duties we are supposed to do, fall into the category of “Swadharma”.
“Swa” means one’s own and “Dharma” means duty.
The world and we live today because of our previous actions.
If sun stops it’s rising and earth stops rotation and wind stops moving think “Can this world and you exist?”
Similarly our respiratory and physiological functions!
So actions are the real force behind life.
However we should have a deeper understanding about actions.
Our mind has the potentiality to involve in whatever we do; and it can withdraw from previous actions to the present actions.
Also it can withdraw and merge into the Supreme Conscious Self; that is the highest Swadharma of the mind by which alone we can reach and experience our true nature.
