How important is “Shraddha Karma”? Does it benefit the departed soul ? Is it right to keep giving offerings to that soul year after year ? Will this not hamper the process of its rebirth ?

Dear Ganga,
Shradha – we observe it to express our gratitude to the departed souls and also to learn a spiritual lesson from that.
We are all indebted to our elder members of the family & society for the culture, spiritual knowledge which they have lived & imparted to us.
Sradham is a vow that we will continue this culture & we will inspire others to follow too.
The subtle lesson from this ritual is understanding that the mind (jeevatma) which is the one that leaves the body & will take a new birth.
So, it is a caution that if we wont try to lead our mind towards the Self (the root of the mind) till the mind reaches there it has to take many births
For that, you alone is resposible!
Hariom!
