Mind contains consciousness but consciousness is beyond mind . When you sleep there is no mind but consciousness is still there. That is why you are able to say the next morning that you slept well. How does this awareness come if there is no consciousness in deep sleep? Therefore consciousness is ever free from thoughts and it is beyond thoughts .
