Swamiji, I am a ardent viewer of your programme in Asianet and Surya. One of my uncle is a person who conducts regular Narayaniyam and Bhagavatha sapthaham at temples and also at his residence in Trivandrum. This year a well known scholar is the acharya from Chennai and he has issued a stateme nt that women should not be permitted to read bhagavatham in the sapthaham during those days in which he is conducting and only men should be allowed to read. and women can just hear or see the bhavatham book. I dont understand the logic because i had seen venmani thirumenis wife reciting along with him on many occasions as well as several other scholarly women. Is there anything like this. Why there is a discrimination for women? Infact my mother is a regular reader of bhagavtham and i feel sad on not having permitted her to read

Dear Prof. Hari Sundarji,
According to our Scriptures, woman does not imply a physical woman, but a mentally weak minded person.
The acharya himself does not the deeper knowledge of the Scripture and he is not qualified to speak on Bhagavatham.
Understand, ignorant people talk foolishness. When Krishna considered the Gopis as his supreme devotees and our Vedas say “Mathru Devo Bhava”.
Women are more qualified than men. Bhagavatham narrates the glory of Panchali and Kunti.
So tell your Acharya not to talk nonsense, especially to literate Keralites.
HariOm!
