Dear Dhanya,
It is not what you do that is important. It is your involvement and complete attention into what you are doing that matters. Seeing the form, doing Abhishekam, reciting the Mantras and offering the flowers and offering the Naivedhyam are the various steps.
From these physical or mental rituals whatever you do, that that itself is the Pooja offering to the Lord.
Involve sincerely in your work and develop strength to accept the positive or negative result and try to share joy in and around you.
If this is happening, there is a meaning in your Pooja.
