Chaitanya-ji, Latent desires (Vasana) lead to desires (Iccha) which lead to motivation and that leads to action. We should not have expectation and attachment on the result of the action. That makes sense. However, I have also learnt that vasana itself should be burnt … just as camphor … to out light that shows the true soul (turiya). I think that without vasana there will be no motivation … and hence no action. We all will become like non-living things – without chaitanya. I think, this doesn’t make sense. Dear Kashi,
We must understand the difference between inspiration (or motivation) and feverishness!
An inspired mind is relaxed and works joyfully with surrender – it is not anxious about the results!
Even if the result is not as expected, it has the strength to think creatively to explore solutions.
An ambitious mind is restless, works with tension and too anxious about the result.
When faced with failures, it collapses and stops all efforts.
As we do not have the freedom to stay away from Karma, do it with vigour and happiness.
All negative Vasanas get burnt through Sadhana and Satsang; and all positive Vasanas get fullfilled too!
