Pranams Swamiji. My college going child is too obsessed with the ipod and expensive mobile phones and laptop. (He already has a mobile, a computer and all the modern day requirements} He is an intelligent child. He is spiritually inclined too. We have tried several ways and means to make him understand. There is constant argument about acquiring these equipments. This is affecting his academic performance. He knows he is wrong. he cries, he repents and promises that he will mend his ways. We are quite patient. Should we take him to a psycologist or psychiatrist for this obsessive behaviour? Please swamiji guide us.

This is a problem of many parents.
If your son is so obsessed get him an Ipod because once he gets some thing his mind will be quiet.
After a few days, his craze will vanish.
When he is influenced by his friends circle his priority will be on that.
If you can change/divert his attention to something else (sports, any creative area) he will not hang on the little things.
Understand an idle mind is weak and gets influenced by other minds.
Take him to temples, pilgrimages and Yoga classes etc.
