Hi, Are the many deities in the Hindu relegion really deities or are they mere characters in stories told to teach us spirituality?

Dear Ramesh,
The deities are avathars. according to our scriptures, all avathars come to teach us the spiritual values, so we should look at them as Gurus and Upasana Moorthis. The important point of their teachings is the realization of God – means Self and God are the same!
