Dear Swamiji, we find in our scriptues that great dharmic kings like Lord Rama and Yudhistira conducted Aswamedha Yaga and conquered or established their supremacy over other smaller kingdoms. Is not this contrary to the principle of non-violence? This was not for self defence but for name & fame & power. Isn”t this what the modern nations also doing?

HariOm!In our puranas you can see so many kinds of wars. It may be dharmik or adharmik. But finally all these kings realized the greatness of spiritual power. And they regretted on their actions and some of the kings renounced every thing and they reached the higher spiritual realms. In Bhagavath Geetha also Bhagavan Krishna says that even the most dreadful criminal can attain higher spiritual experience the moment he realizes his fault and the value and the greatness of the spiritual strength.
