According to Vedavyasa, Vishnu means the Self (chaithanyam) of every one.
From that consciousness, Krishna a great guru ( realized master) incarnated.
Please study Sreemad Bhagavatham (original text) 10th skantham (canto), 3rd chapter, 8 th sloka.
