Hariom, sorry for the delayed answer.
As you observed the problems of the child, now focus on developing confidence in his mind.
Instead of forcing any thing, let the child develop confidence by himself.
So take him to different temples and ashrams.
Convince the child that there is no similar person in this universe for any one.
So every one is unique and great.
Tell him the story of Ratnakara and with the grace of Satsang, how he became a great sage.
Similarly Druva, a child who was tortured by his step mother was blessed by God when he expressed his love.
Let the child develop love(sense of belonging) towards God and develop confidence; you simply provide him a positive environment.
