what is the difference between ashtami rohini and sree krishna jayanthi
Posted by Vignesh on August 22, 2011
Dear Vigneshji,
Astrologically Rohini is the star and Ashtami is the 8th day (from prathama, dwiteeya…etc.)
So, Krishna was born on the most auspicious day.
But according to Philoshophy, Ashtami (means 8th) represents our ego (refer Gita 7th chapter 4 th and 5the sloka).
Rohini is considered to be the queen of strars, it represents beauty.
So, the total meaning is, One who dedicates his self (aham kar, ego) for the service and beautification (transformation of other minds) is sacred or a great person.
Krishna is the most attractive and HE is the most dedicated one for the transformation of the universe.
