Dear Ramaswamy,
It is not the ritual or custom that makes God happy. It is the surrendering of the mind that makes Lord happy. In our Hindu culture, all the rituals are meant for expressing the honour, total dedication(concentration) and third complete surrender. Look at your mind when you do the Aarathi.
