Swamiji, we hear in some temples the idol is Swayambhu. what does it mean.
Posted by Girija on December 15, 2011
Dear Girijaji,
It is the local faith that when there is some kind of positive energy felt in a stone, people started worshiping that stone as an idol of a particular ‘Upasana Devan or Devatha’. These idols must have been used for some Spiritual Sadhana by most ancient people of that part of the country. In short, the idol which doesn’t need “Prana Prathista” is called Swayambhoo.
