Swamiji, Why in the temples, the poojari always show agarbathi and karpooram to god (idol). What is the significance of this. In ancient days, we did not have this, because there was no idol worship. Do we have to do this in our pooja room daily. I do not do it. I light the lamp and medidate in front of god. Please clarify my doubts please.

Agarbathi is represented by one’s own memory of God (devotional Vasana) and camphor represents oneself (ego/mind) and its burning indicates complete surrender of one’s ego at the feet of the Lord.
