after death, there is rebirth, so what is the good of offering pitru sradhham to the departed souls? I need to give a good reason to children who ask this.

Dear Radhaji,
Ask them, why we celebrate Father’s day, Mother’s day, Teacher’s day etc.?
It is for remembering and honouring their service in gratitude.
Similarly, we have to be grateful for the service our ancestors had rendered to us.
This is done by observing the Sradham.
