It is said that God is inside you, you have to realise HIM within yourself. He cannot fulfill your wishes and desires. Then what is the need to prey? Why should we seek God?

Dear Sujathaji,
As a small child, you were always searching for your mother’s presence.
Nothing else could make you happy. Do you ask a child why he or she wants the mother so badly?
A devotee longs for God or that inner silence with much greater intensity. Nothing else can make him/her happy.
When that presence is experienced, it gets established and there will be no difference between ‘within’ and ‘without’.
Then every moment of your life becomes a prayer or song of divine love.
