Hari Om! Swamiji, The character of Shantanu brings in forefront the picture of adharma. (Bhagavat Geeta Notes on your website -Page No. 10). How could you extol Shantanu? I am asking you this because many children and youngsters look up on you for guidance. Was it not Kaamam (in this case Lust) of Shantanu that should have been condemned? Through Bhagavat Geeta does not Lord Krishna tell all of us Kama yesha Krodha Yesha rajoguna samudhbavah. Mahaashano mahaa paapma vidhenam iha varinam. Is not Shantanu’s Kaama an enemy? Swamiji if we start extolling the wrong attributes of our ancestors, then aren’t we leading people to confusion? King Shantanu may be having many positive attributes. But this attribute is negative. The time in which we are living, extolling the negative attributes of our ancestors is like promoting Kaamam (in this case Lust) which is rampant these days.

No one is 100% perfect or imperfect. Lust is a part of nature and hence can not be avoided for the common man.
Today, people are driven by lust and they harm others.
But Shantanu had the wisdom to wait and act without hurting others.
This is what lacking in today’s society where people trigger sinful deeds unable to control their lower emotions.
